Waverly, oh Waverly!

As of late, the weather has been incredible here in Washington- and I DO mean incredible! Weeks of clear skies and warm sunshine! I have yet to make it out on a boat, but the beaches have become my second home. Today might be day 6 straight that I head to the water (pool or Waverly!). I mean might, because I have been feeling sort of sick the last couple days :( I think its the warm sunshine, which is stealing my appetite, which is then leaving me weak...which makes me want to eat even less...you see the pattern?

This weekend was so incredibly fun. I have been waiting to post about it until I could steal pictures, but since miss heiders is taking a while, I decided to use the ones on my phone.




A very exciting thing that happened this weekend:
Kristin Hale got engaged Sunday!! We were at her engagement party last night...it was all done very kristin-style :) Love her!

Current Project: painting the bathroom

I bought the paint back during spring break and I finally got around to getting started yesterday. All the white has been painted, now comes the brown (hopefully in the next hour, when the spakling is finished drying.) I've decided painting the bathroom maybe the most fun, because it is small and you are done before you get tired of it, plus I get to use a brush rather than a roller on most of it.

Today I had a great few hours with my dad, a special treat for him and I these days. We got to take one of our favorite walks, through Edmonds. We first stopped in downtown Edmonds and got coffee, then we drove through some of our favorite streets. This giant white house is one of my all-time favorite houses. (I planned to post the pictures, but I cannot find the cable for my camera- I will have to add them when I find it and can upload my pics, sorry.) I have dreamed for several years about buying it someday. Sadly, they tore down the stables at the bottom of the hill and are preparing to build some houses where it once was. No one is living in the house right now (so we think), so we looped into the beautiful circular drive to take a closer look, and for me to capture a few pictures. This house has the best of everything, it's in Edmonds, it has an incredible view of the Puget Sound and the mountains, a LOT of property, it is incredible and beautiful and huge, an old Georgian style mansion with beautiful proches and big white pillars, and it used to have stables for horses- this is my dream house, or so it was before they tore down the stables and decided to cram houses at its foot. :(

After our walk we stopped at a coffee shop and got drinks. The coffee shop is in this little shopping area, that looks like an old-fashioned town. It's one of the places I remember from my youngest memories- sitting there with my dad and kris eating ice cream cones.

Then, I washed my car, wandered Fred Meyers some with my mom, and came home and folded and put away all the laudry in my room. I actually accomplished my goals for the day- cleaned my car and room- and it feels great! I even went through all the papers and mail I've been putting aside for months! I threw away a bunch of school stuff...wow, feels good.

So, on with the accomplishing of my goals...Here are some favorite pictures from our trip to Oregon... the Kite Festival, OddWater Aquarium, around the beach house, on the shore, and around town...

So, random thought that just reoccured...

I was updating my facebook profile for summer and I started things of all the things I love about summer- at the top of the list is ice cream, and frozen yogurt- DELICIOUS!

This led me to my next statement,

CeFiore is not pronouced "say"- it is CHAY. It is Italian. In Italian, "ce" and "ci" both are pronounced like we pronounce "che" and "chi". And in fact, they pronounce "che" as "ke" (like the beginning of 'ketchup') and "chi" as "key".....the 'h' makes the 'c' a hard 'c'.

That is all. CeFiore [chay-fee-or-ay], and yes, it is absolutely delicious!

OKay, so I have still not added the photos from the trip (they are up on my facebook). I will get them soon, but right now I do not have them on this computer.
So, in the meantime...Here are a couple photos I have stolen from friends. The last few days I have gotten to catch up with friends. Pool days with Ty and Morgan, lunch at the park with Kyle, a tour of Rob's new place, movies, and dessert made by Bryan (fresh mangos are my new favorite I think!!), and coffee with Bianca
...and I have not yet finished unpacking and washing from Oregon. :/ whooops. Well, tomorrow and friday will hopefully give me a chance to catch up on laundry, cleaning my room, and washing my car....at least that is my hope.

Tonight I have another game. Our last one was actually enjoyable, so lets pray tonight's is too!

Frusterated and a little discouraged.

Summer is in full swing. It's funny how much we look forward to "SUMMER" (spoken with awe) as students. The sayd of sleeping in, naps, rest. And yet, I am tired, very very tired. Because summer is really the late nights where you stay out and up, because "you can"...you have no homework, and no school. lol. It's rather funny to me. Don't think I am complaining, because I am not. I wouldn't mind an extra nap here and there, but I am having so much fun! I love the sunshine! Here are a few random shots from the first few weeks of summer (there are some from Father's day in the neighborhood, a movie, bowling, hanging out at Jeff & Elise's pool, etc.

I want a space heater.

My legs are cold... on beautiful days like today, I like to dress in summery clothes. Today, capris. Yet, my office is always somewhat cold. It is no longer freezing, as it was for months, but it is NEVER warm, or comfortable. The office building management doesn't want to heat the building appropriately, and will also not allow space heaters. Not only will they "not allow it" but I believe when we use them, they blow the fuse in our cubicles :( My legs are cold...and I want nothing more than for them to be warm, maybe even toasty so I can pretend I am out in the sunshine....

Oh, a space heater. Someday, maybe I will get to have a space heater....until then, I will walk down to my car and grab my deere blanket :)


PS. 5 Days!!!

Tonight is my first game with my summer womens' league. I am very excited, and also nervous. I'm a little nervous to come back in a less than glorious state (I am VERY out of shape and practice).

I have to go buy new cleats between work and the game too- not the best thing to wear new cleats in a game...but oh well. I think I actually threw my old ones away - they'd seen their day. I loved them dearly :)

It is going to be great though- to be back out on the field, with teammates, a good opponent, and a ref :) Most of the girls on the team played for Crossfire United (my old team), though some of them came after I left for MCs. I am excited to see them all again, a couple in paricular! So, pray tonight that I do not die, or pull a muscle. Funny how your priorities change...a few years ago I wouldn't even be worrying about getting overly tired or pulling a muscle, I'd just be focusing on getting a goal (or an assist, which was more common for me). I know our assistant coach is coaching us, but I am really hoping to see John, the old head coach at one of the games. He was the best coach I ever had (and I had quite a few!).

This Saturday was the Garden Party, then I ended up having a realxing day with Heidi where we missed our hair appointments and ended up wandering around Barnes & Noble and the Northgate Mall. Then we found our way to Greenlake (and I do mean, 'found our way' hahaa) where Kyle eventually met us.
From there, we all three headed over to Rob's birthday dinner at Purple. We were there all evening and had a great time together! I love that restaurant!!

We topped the whole night off with a little "Midnight Soccer" (as termed by Bryan), down at KJH. It was the first day that really felt like summer.

Yesterday was wonderful too...I left work around noon, and met up with Morgan and Braden in Kirkland where we got Starbucks and had lunch at Kid Valley (at which point Todd joined the party). Then we walked around Kirkland, got some delicious frozen yogurt(!!) and all drove to Elise and Jeffs. There Rob was already with Elise and Jeff. Bryan joined, as did Kyle eventually, and we all sat around the pool- doing nearly NOTHING. It was beautiful outside and we were together, and we had no homework...and it was perfect! Around 6/6:30 we all split off our different directions for the evening...

Hello Summertime ;)

Well, I found you are all still reading my blog at least, lol. You were just waiting for some real entertainment to respond to. :) Ty is pretty funny.

I am in the final days of my sophomore year- hallelujah!! Tomorrow one paper is due, and the other two are due Tuesday.

Staying engaged is another challenge. I have been working on my Engl 343 final for 5 and a half hours now. Also for several hours yesterday. I have moved back to my room, sitting on my bed now, my laptop propped on a pillow on my lap. I have a window right beside my bed and I keep seeing something move out of the corner of my eye (just now- again, a long plant blowing). I finally realized what most of the movement was, cottonwood.

Also, I have become a fan of Heroes. Not only I, but Heidi too now. I have two more episodes on a dvd which I haven't watched yet...but...no! do you paper kati!

I am such a blessed girl, I have so many incredible people in my life- all of you, and so many more! Thank you for being part of my life, thank you for all your hugs and notes and love and encouragement. :) Thank you for believing the best about me, for calling the best out of me, and for loving me when I am not really at my best :)

This is Tyson, today I am standing in for Kati so pay double attention to the nuggets of wisdom flowing from my fingers. For these next few minutes you will all be subjected to different thoughts that have occurred to me. Unfortunately for you, you all are a captive audience, so here goes:

School is almost out and this caused me to wonder, why do we perpetuate this system? Who really uses any of the stuff that they force feed us. I surely will not be ever using the anything from Geology 101. I mean, they are rocks for crying out loud! If rocks excite you then you are so far beyond any help that... Sorry, tangent. Anyway, why do we have to go to school for 4 years. I mean the stuff that I will truly need in my occupation I could finish in a year and save myself 3 years of trouble and more money than I even want to think about. The system pushes us to the brink of insanity and they wonder why so many college kids end up moving back in with their parents and...and... It just occurred to me that I never left home. Thats depressing. Wow, I just lost all feeling in my extremities. What just happened to me? Abandon ship! Mayday!

Second thought. Whats up with shaving? I mean, apparently, from the stuff I have been fed the last few years in college, for millions of years, we didn't shave. I mean, why the sudden rush towards hairlessness???!!!! All it has really given us is a face full of razor burn and nothing else. I think that we should move back towards our beginnings. Come on men, rise up and reject the razor!!!! This is the new movement against repression. For too long have our facial hairs been downtrodden and forced into hiding. Why? All because somewhere along the line, someone decided to force us into this prison of sorts.

Third thought, with summer approaching it means one thing- mowing the lawn. This ritual of suburban peer pressure affects millions of people around the world. Once again, no one really knows why we do this, but men and women around the world slave over the tiny little plants in front of their house. It has become the status symbol that all are judged by. Brown lawn with gravel scattered throughout? You are a redneck who cares nothing about image or your poor neighbors who have to look at it. Mostly green with the occasional brown spot? You care somewhat but you are unable to control your dog? Decent green lawn? You have a start, and a little more work will push you to the top. Lush green grass, worthy of existing on the front lawn of the White House? You are the king of the neighborhood. All others bow down before the majesty that is you. You are the crown jewel of the neighborhood association and you mock all those simpletons who aspire to live up to your level of lawn expertise.


Anyway, these are some random thoughts that entered my twisted mind on this rainy Thursday. I hope that I have not bored you to the brink of sanity, but even if I had, this is not my blog so it doesn't matter to me if you come back. And who knows, maybe I will be back again sometime soon.
