I've been past "past" my capacity for a week or two now. Borderline breakdown point. And if I didn't have such an awesome guy who listens, and surprises me with flowers, and puts his evening plans on hold to just spend a Thursday evening sitting on my couch.... I probably would have had a melt down. As it stands, it is Friday and I'm feeling optimistic. Life feels like the challenge it should - the possible challenge that I can tackle.
A couple days ago I was telling Beau, "I think I just need a vacation. A real, get away and relax vacation." But I don't really have the time for that right now. Starting a new job means trying to not take lavish get-aways. I'm just a week away from 4 months at the new job and I have yet to take a day off.... even with a concussion in there.
Next week, however, I'll be taking Friday off! I will get a 4 day weekend and I'm soooo excited! And this weekend, we did our best to say our "thanks yous", "pleases" and most importantly, a few "nos" -- well, we're trying. We'll see how we really do in the end.
But it's Friday. And for the first time in weeks, my tank doesn't feel empty! Hell, I don't even need "full" any more, just give me a few gallons and watch me run! Of course, I prefer full. It's sunny. And I just put on the Keith Urban. Life has hope. And my heart somehow is in Nashville again. It's residing in that peace I always find on the quieter side of the country - reading a book beside my sister, or driving down some almost familiar road.
I'll let my heart hide there for the day, but it's time to get the rest of my capabilities clambering on at my full work-list today. Hope you all find a little peace and hope this beautiful Friday morning.
Love each of you.

It's Friday morning. I haven't had coffee (yet). And I just read a parenting article (what the heck ay?!).

It is Friday morning! We have made it. Weeks have slowed down considerably all the sudden - so have days and hours. But I'm not necessarily complaining. Every time I look at my desktop computer's right bottom corner in utter astonishment that only 3 minutes have passed, I remind myself there are only so many minutes left in this year of 25 and it's really preferable that they crawl as slowly as they like. I don't want to offend them, lest they decide to rush in spite. It would be wonderful if we could convince those stubborn things to run and crawl as we so choose. But who has ever tamed a minute?
So excited for this weekend. Hoping it will be a good mix of rest and fun, starting today with lunch with my sis. :) But this week has come at quite the cost and I think my bedroom footed the bill - so chiming out for the morning in hopes of reclaiming a lost friend in the next 30 minutes.
Have a lovely Friday! Live in the minutes!!

It's been a while since I've had a really productive "pre-work" morning. But it turns out I'm still five and the closer it gets to Christmas the less I can sleep. By 6something, I decided to get out of bed. I listed to classic jazzy Christmas music, brewed coffee, did laundry, cleaned my room, drove over to Woodinville and took the puppy I'm co-sitting (with Rames) for a little jog, returned some DVDs and still made it in to work 20 minutes early. Can I just say, I love a traffic-free Seattle? And I love Christmas. And I love that my sister and brother are on a plane somewhere closer to Seattle than Denver right now!
No more counting days, it's today!! And Christmas might as well be today too!!
Hope today is the start of a wonderful holiday for all of you, and you find yourself surrounded by those you love.
(OH! And it's Friday! Latte-Friday!)
Today is also the last day I can appropriately wear my 'snowflake sweater' : )
That's right. And I'm proud of it.

For the past...ohhh, 2 months now every single Friday at 5pm goes just like this:
...followed by Tonight, Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae.
Every Friday. And I don't think I'm ever going to get sick of that video!
Every Friday 5pm deserves a little celebration. But it's not just Fridays, every day I'm shuffling.
(FYI - Kristin knows the first 5 eight counts. So far, she's taught me the first one lol. BUT, I WILL know it all.)
[We don't love this video (below)... we just like to dance to the song across the floor of our 38th floor empty office ;) TRUST ME, it's fun!]
*And it's you and me and we're running this town and it's me and you and we're shaking the ground and ain't no body gonna tell us to go 'cus this is our show*
Yep. That just happened. Twice. We don't front.

Kristin and I babysat Finleigh last night. Typically this means I read on the couch while she sleeps in her room. Last night, however, we got the treat of playing with her a bit over dinner and then putting her down ourselves. This, is why I turned down three Christmas parties to instead spend my Friday night with little Miss Fin. We love her. A LOT.

My top email this morning, the subject line reads: "Come back to Etsy! We've missed you Katrina"
No, Etsy, I mustn't. For the sake of my checking account. But don't worry, distance still makes the heart grow fonder (and the savings account grow), and I appreciate your kind words and warm sentiments.
I want to write that back to Etsy. (They're so sweet. Kindly courting my checking account.) But I know after the suggestion I made of 'accompanying' the woman at the piano this morning and paying her the compliment of turning her pages for her.... Kristin really will ban me from books if I keep this behavior up.

First sips of deliciousness
Sorry if this photo is stepping over that line of obnoxious "let me share every detail of my life." (You know, the ones who post every time they have a 'great exercise' a cute outfit, or read their bible? One's fine. Maybe even one a day. Don't turn our livefeeds into your life's daily stage directions.) But, I am very excited, and since I've been spamming you with my personal journey of coffee-surrender these past weeks, I feel it only proper to share this moment of sheer happiness and celebration with you, my beloved readers. Turns out, when you've been off coffee for a bit, it can give you quite a caffeine high. After a couple hours of serious giggles and hyperness at work, I am crashing. That was interesting. (2 hours to go. And lots to now do.)

Happy Friday!
Sorry for the lack of posts yesterday. My neck and back have really been getting to me this week, and by yesterday, I was done. Add a less than pleasant.... work atmosphere, and all my energy went into finishing the day. I'd definitely planned to just stay home today, lay in bed, take some advil and ice this back... but when my alarm clock went off, I just couldn't do it. Kellys don't quit well, or call in 'sick' well apparently. After quite the chaotic morning, which included a mad search for the missing green coat (that held the gold ticket- aka- orca card) that took me from the bus stop, back to my house, into the Walkers house twice (nothing like sneaking around your neighbors house at 7:30 in the morning hoping no one wakes up and is scared to wetting themself!), back to my house, and eventually discovering it right inside the front door. Thanks to an amazing sister the morning still managed to pull itself together from there and I was hardly late. I'm here, and it's Friday, which means I'm sipping a latte and I'm wearing jeans, a t-shirt and my green Purcells. My hairs in a pony tail and my face is just...my face. Why the details? Because, this morning, I'm enjoying simplicity and the beauty of it. I'm quite content and happy to be just me right now, in my old jeans and loosely pulled-back hair. Sometimes, the most beautiful thing really is to just be at peace, especially amidst stress and coming chaos.
