You know those nights where your mind wants to run a freaking marathon?  It's going at 500 miles an hour and you don't understand how it's missed the whole 4am memo?  Gotta love those, especially on Sunday nights.  Here's to triple tall americanos, and the drip chasers one and two.

I think I slept about an hour last night.

A little trick I learned in MCs to stay awake: just keep drinking.
I've finished two full water bottles and those three cups of coffee and it's not even lunch yet.

Ten minutes in to a discussion in our weekly office meeting, I realized I hadn't exactly been listening.  I had been writing a poem in my head, that took the ideal concept of a heart floating "up up and away" - turned it into a ship (like Captain Hook's) sailing through the sky - and then turned it into my felled heart.  Yep, chopped down piece of wood.  That's what my head was doing while the group was discussing complex architectural plans that require 5 different sets of grids in order to maximize a complicated space (for the record of those who care - when I returned to the conversation, I recognized the description as the building that houses 50 North in the U District).  Yep.  Happy Monday. :)

Someone couldn't sleep the other morning.  So they got up and baked these little treats.  Homemade, delicious pumpkin scones, delivered to me in parchment wrappings and beautiful blue ribbons.  Loved much?  I certainly feel so. :)  I enjoyed my last one this groggy Monday morning with my second cup of coffee.

My mind might be a lump of stone, but my hearts more a puddle.

Monday, you already read about. Rough day. One in which I know the Lord was stretching me and reminding me I'm desperate and weak. I'm sure those days are necessary, when you know you just don't have it in you to go another minute and yet you have to, but those are not my favorite days. As I was riding home on the bus at 8p, I was laughing a bit over the oddity of it all. Monday, had I been feeling fine, would have been my ideal work day. It was gorgeous out and I got to run around the city on errands, and moreover create a gift basket. I got to explore and create on one of the most beautiful days! And while I was trying to enjoy it, I just couldn't much, the practicalities of truly being sick was making my dream day into a nightmare. But, I finished it. And today I am home with my NyQuill and DayQuill, boxes of tissues, soup, fire and a book.

"The Tasting Room" at Pike Place Market, I'll be going back there.

My companion when I finally got to go home - a bag of a bottle of wine and a box of  Kleenex.

This was Monday in the Market:

LBL called me around noon yesterday and said "Grab Kristin, my money clip, and meet me at the creperie in 15." We ended up eating at Copacabana, and running several other errands. And minus my flats that rubbed several toes raw, it was a lovely and unexpected long lunch. We did things like, wander into tile shops downtown, or through an old 5 star hotel, where LBL felt he should approach the waitress and say "This is Katrina. She loves candied apples. Do you serve those?"  It was a very random, but fun day.  He's out of control.  I'm still not exactly sure why we wandered all through that hotel lobby, but I think it had something to do with showing us where he used to play the piano up in one of the ballrooms.
This man gets more impressive every time we see him! We called this shot "multitasking" - it's a big word at our office and hot on interpretations.
My family and friends think I am bad, but you have never had lunch with LBL. Everything is a photo shoot!
The view

"For a donation, I will pose for you. That is how we support our cat shelter. They believe this is their property right here."

Believe it or not, my first actual macaron from Le Panier.  Oh my! Oh my!!

Happy Monday
Who knows what this week holds.  No doubt there's something beautiful.

Happy Monday.

I try to avoid this, but I had to stop on my way to work...

Happy Monday!
What a beautiful morning. I shared breakfast on the patio with two lovely young ladies, preparing to say goodbyes. Meg leaves for Italy in 7 days. Em is here for a few more weeks still before returning to Canada. Both will be gone for the summer. In addition to goodbyes, we were celebrating Meg's 21st.
I spent pretty much the entire weekend on this patio. From 10:30a Saturday until 6pm with my family and a couple of my best friends. Sunday afternoon, evening, Monday morning. What a lovely place, Mom & Dad. And what a lovely weekend, Father. :)

After SUCH an incredible weekend, it is hard to focus on work today. I spent the weekend in the sunshine, with so many of my favorite people, my family and friends, and to top it all off, Bono and The Edge. :) To steal a few more hours over breakfast with these amazing ladies helped to delay the pain of Monday a bit longer. But now I am sitting at my desk with a pile of projects, and a light sunburn on my shoulders to remind me of a dozen sunny smiles.

Blessings on all my finals-inflicted friends, praying for peace and perseverance, finish strong. :)
