So, I should be completely ashamed of this.  But I'm kind of not.  THIS is why my sweet Toni and I will be friends forEVER.  We get each other.   And when a late Friday night rolls around, we know how to entertain ourselves...   Aw Toni - I love you dearly, and I love every single one of our memories.  What an amazing friend you have been to me over the years.  You are tender and strong in a way I've seen in so few people in my life.  You're resilient in storms and heartaches.  You've tasted more pain than most people our age - broken dreams and deep hurts, and you've walked away a beautiful person inside and out, kinder, sweeter, and even more caring.  That is a remarkable feat.  Come over soon and let me read my silly stories to you until you fall asleep.... or roll over on your good ear. ;)  Love you!   <3 Shane

Look what I finally took the time to figure out. That's right, finally created a YouTube account and uploaded some favorite old videos. :)

A few months back, Kate & Tom did a casual show at a local coffee shop.  We crammed in on that lovely summer evening to enjoy a free performance from our favorite (and lately studio-reclusen) group over a cup of coffee.  Here's a clip of my favorite part of the night, their cover of "Jackson."

Listening to a little Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors this morning. Rose passed them along to me last year and since then I've enjoyed sharing the gift with a number of other friends.  Here's a couple of my favorites (but truly, I love them all!). The first is a live version of a song off their album "A Million Miles Away" and the second is from their most recent album "Chasing Someday."  (A few other favorites: Someday. Magnolia Tree. Having just finished Much Ado About Nothing, and recognizing even more lines used by Mumford and Sons, I decided to go listen to Sigh No More again.  Obviously, the name comes from the song in the play, but they also borrow lines from the end of the play for other songs.  Interesting to consider the song as a whole, in light of the message of the play and specifically the character of Benedick, the man who swears to be a bachelor forever, and then pronounces happily at the end of the play to his remaining, single friend, "Get thee a wife!"  It is interesting to me the fears we hold of love, or more so, marriage and commitment.  It seems the older we get, and the longer we're single, the bigger they become.  And while I usually assume this fear of commitment is specific to our generation, or at least magnified in it, this play of Shakespeare's lead me to suspect otherwise.  Man's tendency has always been to isolation and independence, it's only that we finally think we really can do it on our own.  They say we're fools in love, but I think we're more fools to think we need it not. Two quote another of the greatest lyricists, "Sometimes you can't make it on your own."

I don't think this is their official video, but it's pretty cool. Watch. ;)  (Yes, Morgan, balloons.  But when there's also a bit of a Heroes feel to it, with the whole waking up in a desert and the meanings that can all be deduced from the handcuff to the suitcase... it's suddenly creative, just watch.)

Already getting slightly overplayed, but I love this song... and don't exactly know why. I'll catch myself humming it. I looked it up to show LBL. He's a pretty serious rollerblader and he loves getting new skating songs. This sounds just like something he'd love, from what he's shown us over the past months.
