I kid you not.

This little girl stole my heart from the start.  And apparently, she stole my boyfriend's last weekend.  Last night he asked, "Are they like Auri?"  "Not exactly, but they're fun." With a coy smile he added, "I miss Auri."  I wasn't sure if he was just teasing me, so I checked, "Are you being serious right now?"  "Yeah, she is so fun to play with;  I kind of miss her."  He smiled again.  And though it probably comes as a surprise, he isn't exactly a kids sort of fellow. I woke up this morning laughing and called Elise on my walk to the bus to tell her.  Last Saturday as he sat on the floor and she brushed his hair and chatted along, cuddling and playing with her new found friend, he looked at Jeff and Elise with concern, "She is dangerous. She's the kind that makes people want to have kids." : /  Too bad they aren't all like Auri - little mischievous, brilliant, funny and loving three-year-olds.  I can't wait to meet the next Mitchell baby!

This is one of those shows (and books) I can't wait to share with little girls of my own some day. :)

I was almost late to work because of this cute thing.  I didn't want to leave her this morning!!  I love her so stink'n much!!!  And when I babysit her, she's usually in bed when I get there (as was the case last night).  So getting hugs and loves from her this morning in her jammies was heavenly.  She puts her arms out to me and my heart just melts into a big puddle of Finleigh Love! This morning it was all smiles and "what's this?" My favorite was when she goes, "What's this?" and after I responded "Scarf", she pulled it up to her face just like it was to mine, and smiled up at me.

Word.

When Kristin and I said we were bored one time, our mom made us sit at the kitchen table for hours... not allowed to do anything. Bored was a dirty word in our house. (Other forbidden phrases were "I'm starving" and exaggerations of hundreds, millions or trillions- to which my dad would threaten to make us WRITE out that the said object or sentence that many times.) And I love that. Rather than the threat "I'll show you what bored is" that we regularly heard from our mom and dad, I think I'll probably inform my children that there's no such thing as bored, only boring. :0   Perhaps cruel, but I can't agree more.   We often think that if we're bored it's because life and other people can't keep up with our highly exciting taste and personality... not so.   It just means you can't create... you need to be spoon fed adventures and toys.   I remember sitting on sidewalks with ants and rolly pollies, running through sprinklers, playing with friends with sticks as swords and forts as castles far more than I remember my toys.   I learned to never be bored.   My parents taught me to enjoy every moment to the fullest, for what it is.   I want to teach my kids that.
