I want a kick-drum, not a snare. A man that arrests your soul, not strikes your nerves.
These are the things I think about on long runs. Especially when TH&TH is playing in my ears and a battle's playing in my mind.
I want a kick-drum in the silence.
Yes, Kristin, I went running and you know what running does to my heart. ;)

My foot is throbbing!! It's uncomfortable unwrapped, it's painful wrapped. It goes numb and feels icy. WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE. I know. Mostly, I'm just going crazy as it's sinking in that I won't be able to run for a couple more weeks probably. And I just bought new running shoes! Well, truth be told I bought them several months ago, but I've had to exchange them four times to find the right size, which I just did two weeks ago! I've been saving them to break in on the perfect sunny day. I pictured running the hills of San Fran. Probably not. And when I consider all the cookies and hot chocolate I enjoyed at camp, I cringe. I've always been the "eat the cookie - run tomorrow" sort of girl, but what if I can't run tomorrow?!!
I can't even use my exercise ball, as it forces my ankle to extend which is the most painful movement for it. Hmm. We will find a way, don't you worry. And at least it's only a matter of weeks - makes me grateful to the Lord that I've been able to enjoy the life I have. I'm blessed indeed.

I think running opens my heart. :)
Or maybe it just forces me to stop doing everything else for a while- and listen, and process. Whatever the case, I find it incredible that exercising makes our entire body and spirit and soul seem better- it makes us well. I find it incredible that God created us that way- to be most alive in this strange activity that combines labor, play and rest... and that there, He speaks to my heart and opens up new thoughts to my mind.
I can let go when I run. I can trust Him. I can accept that I can't do it- but that in my weakness, He will be strong for me.
Today, I finally got something: I am faithful, not because I am faithful. I am faithful, because He lives in me and through me- and He is faithful.
His love never fails. So trust. He will win this battle when the day is done.
