I know you all want another picture of my poor little blue toe right now, but too bad.  You're not going to get it.

This little piggy went to market, This little piggy stayed at home, This little piggy had roast beef, This little piggy had none. And this little piggy went... "Wee wee wee" all the way home...

According to this site, the first publication date of this nursery rhyme was 1728.  That's simply publication.  I took a couple classes on Folklore, and I must say it's highly amazing and interesting how fairytales and folklore get passed from generation to generation in different cultures.

Completely random post?   I know.

Have a favorite fairytale, folk song or story?   Any that you grew up with your parents or even grandparents telling you?   I'd genuinely love to hear it.

I really like this picture, and I find the road enchanting.   I can't look at it without thinking this is exactly the type of road kidnappings and mischeif always happen on in fairytales.   It's perfect.

I will. And I just might read them a few no one else has ever heard. Call it an unfair advantage. ;) I'd like my children to be a little extraordinarily brilliant. Imagine, a little squad of adorable little children with long brown slightly tangly hair and words too big for themselves. I often do. And I already love them.

Thanks, Meg. :)

“If the Beast was ugly on the exterior and had a heart of gold, Gaston was wonderful and beautiful and handsome on the exterior and had the heart of a pig.” - Don Hahn, producer of Beauty and the Beast

This quote reminds me why we love fairy tales (and especially Beauty & the Beast), they remind us to look past appearances.  It's not just that 'dreams do come true', but it's that beauty can be found where least expected and social classes and stigmas aren't to be trusted.  Don't cross people off on a first glance, or first meeting.   They might surprise you yet.  Diamonds don't grow on tree tops and usually the apples that fall into your lap are already rotten.  Train yourself to see, and begin by learning where to look.  That's why we love fairy tales, especially as girls.  It feeds our hope that the right guy will see, he'll no where to look, and he won't be scared away no matter how many witches, dwarfs or crazy backwoods boys he has to overcome, be it even our own apparent sleep.

Where love lives, death can't be the end.
