How'd you fair?  We had two knocks at the door.  That is it! There were literal herds of children and parents in our neighborhood, and some how we got skipped?  WHY?  I don't know.  And I'm trying to get over it, but someone I feel like the kid on the playground who not only gets picked last.... but somehow doesn't land a team at all because "it would make the teams uneven."  :/  Yeah, that kid.

We had a big bowl of GOOD candies too!  [John:  "I like chocolate.  I hate it when people give out all that crappy candy.  So I bought the stuff I like."  as we dumped in bags of Reeses cups, butterfingers, kit kats, etc.]  When we had a knock, we'd run down stairs, swing open our little peep hole and ask who it was in silly voices.  We'd open the door and slide out the Moose with a bucket of candy hanging from his antlers, all the while talking to them from behind the door.  We were having so much fun!  And we only got TWO KNOCKS!?  Okay, I'm sorry, I really am trying to move on.

The second knock was these two adorable little kids - a TMNT and a princess.  They giggled at the talking moose and told us "My mom said we can each only take one piece."  I would have handed them the bucket.  They were my favorite part of the night.  Much better than the two pre-teens from the Hunger Games, who had chosen to be Clove and her counter part!  (Seriously people!?  What is wrong with kids today, Clove?)

I lit a bunch of lanterns along the walkway starting at the sidewalk.  Opened the gate.  Put a big owl up in the window with little lights illuminating it.  We had jack-o-lanterns and a hand coming out of the mail slot!  What more did we need?  Where did we go wrong?!!  Next year, I'm getting a sound system and eerie music.  Fog machines.  Hiring monkeys. Ninjas.  A pod of turtles - no, Ninja Turtles (aka TMNT)!  I WILL have trick-or-treaters next year!

And perhaps children who dress up as Clove won't even get candy.
