Last night I had a dream.
About coffee.
Yes, in it a good many of us were out to breakfast and I was the last to order. I sat down to the table to realize nothing I'd ordered was Daniel Fast appropriate. Then, I looked over and saw Kathy Gilbert and Laurie Unger sipping their coffee. I was utterly jealous, and confused. People all around the table were drinking coffee, while on the Daniel Fast, something I thought was fine until a week ago when I saw it on the "not to eat" list. BUT COFFEE IS A BEAN?!! Right? Last year (almost two years ago?) when I did a prolonged Daniel Fast, I drank coffee, I just wasn't allowed milk or syrups. : / This is day number three of no coffee or black/green tea. And day number three of a headache... pretty sure it has to go away soon. I know plenty probably ARE drinking coffee still.. and to be honest, I might pray about adding it back in too. So if you are, this is not judgment... just admission to coffee cravings in my dreams.
Don't worry, I've been avoiding posting pictures of delicious food.... and I promise not to continue posting about how much I'd like a coffee. ;)

so would this be a good or bad time to tell you that me and my mom are BOTH drinking coffee... ;)
Not sure, but a BETTER time would have been three days ago! Do me a favor, ask your mom why it's on that list to begin with?! I'm confused... it's a bean! It seems to be related to it having caffeine, but I didn't see anything in there about Daniel fasting caffeine when I went and read through it again.. clarify! lol
Technically Daniel only drank water, so I think thats the main reason why. And it has something to do with caffeine, as they consider it something "defiling" to the body. Although that is a very harsh word for it. Daniel stayed away from all defiling things. So, that is the reason why they keep coffee off of the list. But, its one of those things you just have to ask the Lord about I suppose. And for us, it was not a required sacrifice :) And I am also using artificial sweetener like splenda and honey which I also think Daniel stayed away from, but its really up to the person. So I take my coffee with a spleda and a splash of soy- which is quite different in comparison to my white mocha and breve addiction. I considered that an extreme sacrifice ;)
me too, Katie... black tetley heavily-laden-with-caffeine tea is my "comfort" several times a day. I'm also on day 3 of a headache and when my Dad came over this morning with his morning thermos of coffee, I considered reconsidering my commitment... thank God for GRACE to press through. It will get better and we'll be glad I stuck to it.
we'll be glad WE stuck to it. :)
First I want to say how proud of you I am. Giving up coffee is a tough one. Second it is actually a seed not a bean ;)
Coffee is always the hardest thing for me to fast...I feel you Kati!
Omg, don't get me started.
